Samas Beach-Location rare sea turtles laying eggs

Samas Beach is a beach located in the village of srigading, Sanden, Bantul, or about 24 km south of Yogyakarta. Samas Beach is famous for its big waves, river deltas and freshwater lakes which form the lake. By Sub DIY Fishery Service, the lake-lake is used for the development of fisheries, sea turtles and prawns as well as for fishing locations. On this beach, often held religious rites by the people of Yogyakarta as Carnival Ceremony Tumuruning Maheso Suro and Labuhan Alms Sea. Samas Beach is bordered by Beach Patehan Parangtritis west and east. In addition to large waves, Samas beach is famous for the strong sea winds and the steep shoreline and white sandy beaches.


Samas Beach sand is often used as nesting sites of endangered sea turtles such as Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Turtle Blimbing, and Ridley Turtle. Hunting for turtle eggs along the stretch of beach is often done by local fishermen for various purposes. However, or initiative and awareness of a number of fishermen along the coast of Samas Natural Resource Conservation Center in Yogyakarta as well as a number of environmental NGOs was formed Bantul Turtle Conservation Forum with members of the fishermen who used to hunt eggs Panyu.
