Market Beringharjo

The name of the central market in the city of Yogyakarta. This market is one of completeness of the city / palace. Completeness of the city / palace that Islamic-style palace and next to the market, including the square, grand mosque, and the castle.
Beringharjo Market was founded by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwana I. This market is situated in the northern palace complex. The name was taken from the name Beringharjo market Beringan forest,the forest which is the embryo of the city of Yogyakarta. In the forest there are dukuh named Pacetokan which is where the establishment of Sultan Palace today.

Based on the map in 1765 Sultan Palace occupies a market position which is a vacant area of land moor. In some fields there are padukuhan-padukuhan. The location of the market is located on the east road which connects the palace with White Pal Tugu (Tugu Yogya now.) The main entrance is located at the center of the market complex on the west side of the market building. On the left side right side of this door there are two rooms measuring 2.5 x 3.5 m which is used to place the market officers.
